While Yahoo! is still struggling to gain the respect of the blogger community, Google is going all out to win over the huge Hindi-speaking population. Last week, Google launched a new Hindi Transliteration feature that allows Indic bloggers to write blog posts in Hindi using the English language.
Today, Google introduced the Hindi version of Google News that aggregates news headlines and descriptions from all popular Hindi news sources like Navbharat Times, Dainik Bhaskar, Yahoo! India, BBC Hindi, Dainik Jagran, MSN India and Sify Hindi.
Readers can also subscribe to Hindi News RSS feeds though it's disappointing that a technology section and Hindi news alerts are still missing.
Like the English version of Google News, the Hindi edition shows news headlines published during the last 30 days. The service was developed at the Bangalore team.
Much credit goes to Googler Vinodh Kumar who was behind this project and has just completed his first year at Google. Vinodh has confirmed that Google is working on supporting more Indian languages (like Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and others).
