Alt-Shift-Print Screen - A Scary Keyboard Shortcut for Windows

The Print Screen key [PrtScn] takes a snapshot of the entire computer screen and copies it to the Windows Clipboard. Hold down Alt and press the Print Scrn key to capture just the active window.

So far so good. Now try this combination - Press Alt, Shift and Print Screen together. And don't worry, you can always restore your previous desktop theme by pressing the same keyboard shortcut again.

Here's what happened to our desktop [before and after screenshots].

This is no XP Easter egg but a resident High Contrast XP color theme designed for people with vision impairment. [via Web Stuff Scan].

OSX has the same command at Command-Option-Control-8

Only the Left handed side Alt and Shift works

Not the right hand side

Sure has not changed in Vista :-)

What ? I seem to get this when I hit the (left) ALT+SHIFT+PRINT-SCREEN.

Im using WinXP Pro SP2(OEM version).

somebody with normal vision might get vision impairment..

Basically just changes the windows scheme to one of your choice, by default the high contrast one.
heh, reminds me of the scheme voted worst ever; the "hot-dog stand" scheme in windows 3.1

Been using XP for quite some time now and did not know that about the high-contrast or about the ALT+Print Screen.

Thanks!

I get the same warning dialog as Anjanesh. Kinda nice that it warns you before such a drastic change.
