Blogs that are on Blogger, WordPress or TypePad can now add the wonderful outbrain star ratings widget to their blog posts.
This ratings widget has been under a closed beta for some time but they finally made a public release today.
It's light, requires no registration and very intuitive - visitors can hover the mouse over the five stars and click any of them to rate your current blog post.
Even if you have a regular website that's not a blog, this ratings widget can be installed on your site as well.
You need such a rating widget to get feedback from all those reader who are subscribed to your blog aren't contributing to the discussion because they are probably too lazy to write a comment.
Give them a system like this ratings widget that requires no effort and they'll be happy to say if enjoyed or disliked reading your blog post.
Get Ratings Widget here. Developer Blog is here. If you are using Windows Live Writer to insert ratings in your blog posts, make sure you remove the link breaks from javascript else this may not work.

I have seen this on many blogs (the one which get huge amount of daily visitors) and it somehow does not receives the votes which can help the reader..!
even I installed a similar widget on my blog but it didn't get the response. Looks like people do not have the time to actually leave a vote.
by the way why didn't you install it on DI? ;)
and hey your after I clicked on the comments link it didn't open up as a pop-up. I guess the pop-up way for commenting is better. Just my view.

I gave this a try, but it somehow managed to un-center all of my images. If not for that little glitch, it would be pretty cool!

Hi Amit,
Good Morning........
Most of site visitors can not write proper comments on different articles but only few visitors inspire and write good comments. Some people can understand but they can not express their feeling in words. They simple leave comments.
People comment improve site author's interest and can write more effective articles for site visitors. Author takes responsibility about each article to give good information. Each author expect proper response but they can't. Site author descries at that time if no one does not comment on articles.
But, Rating method is very simple and easy method to collect the Feedback from visitors. Almost all users give rating. The average rating gives final Comment of the total visitors. So, this method really works when compared to the comments.
Thanks you for your suggestion..........

Even JS-Kit offers similar ratings for blogs. When I tried to install it for individual posts it went crazy.

Hey Seeji - I wanted to reach out and help you with your rating widget. For some reason your blog url did not come through on the comments. You can ping me at john@outbrain.com and we can take a look at your integration. Best regards, John

Hey Salman - This is John from outbrain. You make a good point about some people not rating. From our experience integrating our ratings on blogs and within rss readers, the number of rates seems to increase over time as more people see the rater and make it part of their consumption experience. On this first post Amit has logged ratings from 36 readers which is a good start.
Additionally, to help bloggers make the most out of every rating, we offer a free "Blog Intelligence Report" that displays data and analytics of each post's ratings and popularity rank. Our goal here is to help bloggers understand what content works best for their audience. If you want to give our rating widget and "Blog Intelligence Report" a try you can shoot me an email at john (at) outbrain (dot) com. Thanks, John
