What a surprise - Apple Safari 3 is now available for Windows XP and Vista. The default search engine is set to Google.
Safari installation on Windows was a snap. The inbuilt RSS reader is excellent and the browser is pretty fast - Apple claims that Safari loads web pages up to 2 times faster than IE 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.
However, there were some issue with the fonts - the Safari Toolbars and bookmarks are all appearing in overlapping numbers and symbols. Possibly I am missing some Apple font or the Helvetica Fractions font is corrupted. Anyone else noticed this ?
Another missing feature in Safari Windows is "email webpages" - Mac users can email full copies of websites (including images) while Windows users can only send the link of the current webpage.
You will love the "Private Browsing" feature of safari - when turned on, the sites that you visit are not added to the browser's history and searches are not saved in the Google box.
This is the second Apple software on my Windows PC after the iTunes-Quicktime combo and the fifth web-browser after IE, Firefox, Maxthon and Opera.

Times font is set as default, but it displays in Symbol-type characters.
I've had this problem before and found the solution to be to turn off Helvetica Fractions and Times Fractions fonts.
This time, however, I don't have a Times Fractions font set installed. I've turned off all font sets except for System Fonts and the problem persists.
Any thoughts?

As a Mac user, I use Firefox almost exclusively. Safari doesn't have the features available on Firefox.
Of course, Safari leaves Exploder in the dust...

it's a good point about the fonts by radioinactive.
but there might also be a problem with the fonts in vista - since I too can't see anything on my computer - I have a freshly installed vista for business.
maybe it has to do with this.
