Yahoo! Using Technorati for Blog Search Results

It's been more than six months since Yahoo! Blog Search was removed from the Yahoo! News homepage. A Yahoo! representative initially said that their blog search tool was "temporarily taken offline to retool the offering".

But looks like Yahoo! may never revive their Blog search engine and here's one reasonable hint from the Yahooplex itself.


Yahoo! recently introduced city specify portals called Yahoo! OurCity that display Flickr photos, Videos, Podcasts, del.icio.us bookmarks and blog posts about a particular city [currently limited to few Indian cities].

While Flickr, Yahoo! Videos and del.icio.us are Yahoo! owned services, the blog posts for Yahoo! OurCity mashups are feteched from Technorati using the following search query.

technorati.com/search/city_name?authority=a1 [ie, blogs with atleast litte Technorati authority]

Technorati is one of the best blog search engines and it would fit just perfect in Yahoo!'s ever expanding portfolio of Web 2.0 tools. Techcrunch guru, Mike Arrington, made a similar suggestion an year ago. (Hat Tip: Kaps, DP)
