The year was full of excitement and very satisfying overall. Here's a quick look at some of our blog metrics:
» DI made it to the Technorati Top 100 Favorited Blogs in 2006 - Current Rank is 50 based on 139 Technorati members who have added this blog as their favorite.
» We had ~12 million page views in 2006. Search engines and Digg were responsible for most of the traffic but the interesting part is that 7% visits were direct (from bookmarks, desktop shortcuts or directly typing the blog URL)

» Feedburner says that we have some ~6600 RSS subscribers. Alexa Rank varies every single day and today it says 3,082.

» Most of the traffic originates from US, India, UK, Canada and Australia.

» Internet Explorer is still the most popular browser among our blog readers. Firefox comes a distant second followed by Opera and Safari.

» Though Google Adsense was responsible for most of the blog income, Feedburner has delivered some amazing results in the last three months. See the earnings graphs for 2006 from (a) Adsense and (b) Feedburner.

What's next ?
• Planning to start a video podcast at DI but not sure how soon will that happen.
• Highlight blog posts from new or lesser known bloggers.
• A dedicated Q & A series to solve the techie problems of non-techies.

Highlight blog posts from new or lesser known bloggers ----- That's a novel idea Amit. Kudos!
And, many thanks for posting the stats when many other "so called" pro's just skim through some good numbers, you gave us the real data. Deserves credit.
Cheers!

Well, what can I say ? You capped off an amazing year for DI.
Regarding highlighting lesser known blogs, when will you start considering?
I am a 14 year old from Kerala, India. Here's my blog-Digital Dreams
I have some questions -
1. How do you have different ad positions for main page and item pages? Is it by ItemPage tags?
2. How did you create these graphs? They look awesome.
I know you won't reveal all these, but you have been more open than most others. You revealed your Javascript trick for AdSense unit only after 1st post, etc. So I expect you to reveal at least some of these. Please!!!

Congrats on some impressive statistics and I wish you much success in the new year. You gained my support and respect when I emailed you a while back to let you know that I liked the site and your response was not only kind but friendly as well. I look forward to watching this site grow with your plans for the new year.
I think the podcast would be cool and if it will have any content in it that your page has had in the last year it will surely be something to see.
I don't know that I have ever seen nor heard of any sites that have highlighted the blogs of other bloggers, new/old/or lesser known alike, however I do like the idea of giving some recognition to those folks.
The Q&A thing would be cool and I would most definitely like to offer any help in getting that going or helping out with answering some questions.
You seem to have it all set...Happy New Year to you and yours...and thanks for the selfless work you have done with DI.

That is quite impressive. Let everything multiply this year for you. Wishing all the very best.
I have sent a mail requesting you for a B-School Blog Hunt. Please give me a reply if you find time. I had already contacted some of the other bloggers and few have agreed. Some top Indian News Channels and Newspapers will be covering us throughout. Judges confirmed are Aaron Wall of SEObook.com. We all have to contribute towards the Indian Blogosphere.
Best wishes from me again.

Congrats Amit,
These stats are not very suprising considering the work you have put into blogging.Anyways regarding the charts, they are basically made by google analytics which is much better than any stats counter or any other services out there.
Written on 3/1/07 12:42 PM
Kewl...thrilled to see those stats!
Keep it up !

Hi Amit, Are there any plans for shifting DI to New Blogger. It will be nice to browse older posts by categories with help of 'Labels' feature.
Written on 8/1/07 11:52 PM
Shrish - I will but current Google is now allowing Blog with thousands of posts to shift to the new blogger.
So we might have to wait for some more time.

Great work. Simply superb!
From the numbers, it seems that you've gone from 'runk' to 'raja' in a span of about 18 months.
You deserve credit for all this.
I must thank you for your services through your blog. It has become an indispensable need.
Good and dedicated work is always appreciated.
I pray that you continue to do better and better. All the very best!
You realise how it is like to be a less-known blogger. I am also one of them.
I am doing some serious work on Digital Dexterity
and hope to pull a feat similar to yours, although small.
I hope that you will comment on my work.
Looking forward for the same.
Good luck for the forthcoming years.

Original content on blogs gets great traffic from search engines like google. But there is not much traffic from Yahoo! and MSN as compared to Google.

btw, I have been using the same for my blog and have been amazed by it.

These web stats. I think you are the first Indian Tech Guru getting such a huge no. of visitors. Nice work!!!
Written on 7/8/07 11:51 PM
Amit, Many congratulations. Your work is truly inspiring.
I read about blogging and you (an IITian who quit regular job to take up full time blogging !) in The Week mag about 1-1/2 yr back or so and have visited your site almost everyday typing directly in the address bar. The single most reason being that you write original stuff, and second there's so much useful info there.
Kudos.

Hi Amit,
This is a cool stuff you are putting up. But since this is already into late 2007, any updates on the stats?
Thanks for the great inspiring moments shared though..
