When you search for blog citations on Technorati [sample search], it also shows a couple of confusing "authority" numbers on the search page that can easily intimidate a person who has no clue about about the Technorati Ranking System.
Here's what the individual numbers mean:
* Rank 538: the number of blogs that have 1,615 blogs or more linking to them
* 4,635 links: the number of links pointing at this URL in the last 180 days
* 1,615 blogs: the number of distinct blogs pointing at this URL in the last 180 days
* 5,415 links: the total number of inbound links for that blog found in Technorati's index.
