Rapidshare.de, one of the most popular site for sharing really big files on the internet, has rebranded itself as Rapidshare.com. A good news is that if your uploaded file on Rapidshare gets popular, you automatically qualify for a free premium rapidshare account which means no limit on file downloads or any waiting time.While Rapidshare AG says they are moving to Rapidshare.com because the disk space on RapidShare.de drives is exhaused, I think it's more related to Google Adsense.
Rapidshare.de allowed users to upload a single file upto 300 MB in size which stayed on their servers for indefinite period and could be downloaded any number of times. Since Rapidshare is not charging non-premium customers, the bandwidth costs were recovered by showing Google Ads on pages that had links to download content off the Rapidshare servers.
However, very recently, Rapidshare.de domain was banned by Adsense since it was primarily used for sharing bulk of illegal content including warez, pirated movies, MP3 songs, etc. The advertising revenue of rapidshare would have take a hit and their next advertising partner, etology.com, may not have been as effective as Google since their ad inventory were just an Adult dating website.
Now that Rapidshare.de has moved to Rapidshare.com, this new domain is already qualified to show Ads by Google. Plus Rapidshare has introduced a new Collector Accounts, like a file manager for all the file that you upload on Rapidshare.com, which could give them tighter control over users and not just the files uploaded on Rapidshare. So if a user is frequently uploading copyright content, they could simply ban the user and all his files are automatically off the rapidshare disks.
The good part of Rapidshare.com Collector account is that you collect premium-points for downloads of your files. These collector points can later be converted into free premium accounts which are otherwise available for 10 Euros per month.

Just joined RapidShare as A Premium Account User. Rapidshare.org will let me download files from rapidshare.com but nothing from rapidshare.de, is is right? Most of the files I want are on the RS.de site and not the RS.com site, so still have to wait an age to get them.

in rapidshare.de are they still accepting new memberships ? last time i tried, they registered me at .com instead and i asked for refund (which i got) but i am afraid of trying again to register at rapidshare.de. I dont' even need uploading, just downloads from .de
Please anyone help me on this, or if there is a way to download files from .de when being a member of rapidshare.com

yeah i would like to know about this also.
because some of the files that i needed are both in .de and .com. but i only have an account at .de and i can't download from the .com site. shouldn't it be for both. thats a total rip off if you have to pay for membership for both site.

RapidShare.de and RapidShare.com are completely different companies.
It is not possible to use your login, download files, use folders or collector's
accounts from RapidShare.com at RapidShare.de (or the other way around).
Your account at RapidShare.de will not be extended if you extend
your account at RapidShare.com!

I also paid for a rapidshare.com account thinking I had it made. What a rude awakening when I found out that it won't work at rapidshare.de sites! They both are the same company. Don't let anyone tell you differently. They just are not interoperable! They won't get another dime from me. Watch Yer Back!

If your worried about rapidshare deleting your uploads, then use http://rapidbolt.com, which masks the download page of your uploads, thus nobody can report your links because they dont know the REAL url. ;)

They are IN FACT the same company. I was able to use my username and password for BOTH sites. That is up until I renewed my account on .com on the 4th of Jan. I don't know why this is, and I forgot how I did it the first time. But let it be known I was able to use both sites.

for some reason the rapidshare.com dosent open on my browser. i dont know what to do!!! i have a Premium acount but why the hell do i need it if the fukin website dosent open up!!! i tryd sending them emails but they just never reply. i cant even get a refound from them. Fukin rip off

What a con-job Rapidshare.com is!! I had the impression I was getting a great Rapidshare account when I paid, only to find out it does not work on the Rapidshare.de site. Anyone who says it does has to be working for Rapidshare!!

actually they are the same parent company but works as individual companies but you cant use the same account name and pw on both, check it out sometime in thier faq.

I have a premium account at .de, I can not login into the .com websites. Is this truly a joke? feel like being cheated. Is it really possible to login into .com using same userid/password?

IF you had a .de account when the .com was launched you were allowed to get a 'free' .com account as part of that 'promotion'
After that both systems are totally seperate. You can not use .com user/pass to get into .de and cannot get into .de by using a .com user/pass.
If you extend your .com you do not extend your .de, and vice versa.
Uploading has been disabled on .de, and all go to .com, but in order to access the old files currently on .de they are FORCING you to pay for 2 seperate accounts... one ONLY to access all the legacy files on .de

For those who said "you login .com with your .de account", are you really serious? because I couldn't.
I have tried more than once.
I have my .de account since last Oct, right now I am seeing fewer and fewer files uploaded with .de links.
This is a huge rip-off. If people join either one of the .de or .com accounts, we should able be able to access both webiste.
I have just emailed the webmaster, not sure I would get any replied. But this really piss me off.

This all seems a bit of a con. I joined Rapidshare(.de) last year, and everything was fine, then I got a few links to Rapidshare.com(assuming it was the same company)which didn't accept my userid/password. As my account had months to run I was a bit peed off. Then, to my surprise, there was a 'user id linking' feature on Rapidshare.de, allowing me to get a (separate) user on rapidshare.com, but with the same time to run on the account. Hence - 2 userids, one membership payment and one expiry period.
I just renewed my membership, and my .com account has another year to run, but my .de account sill expires next week. I coulnd't find this link feature on either side, so sent .com an email asking what was going on, and now they insist they are separate companies, and I have to pay .de (again) for another year if I want it. Rip off? I think so.
I seriously doubt I'll bother renewing next year

I was ripped off too. I signed up with .DE thinking I can also access .COM. I email them that their practice is deceptive because if your new to rapidshare, which I am, you would think .DE and .COM are the same company. Just look at their layout and color schemes and logos. They are the same.

hi i joined last year on rapidshare.de then the name changed to .com i send an email to it and they returned a mail that said .de and .com are 2 differend firms and it was not possible to use .de account on .com
however after a few days i found out that you could click on a link at the .de site to convert your .de account to a .com account
after that was finished i got a new account name and pasword that still works fine on .com and i could use the old account name also for the .de server until my account was outdated
i dont know if it still possible cause that was the time they just changed de name and in that time it was not possible to extend your account on .de
