Search Old Newspapers and Magazines with Google News

This story from Guardian newspaper, UK was published on Saturday January 31, 1948 a day after the assassination of Mahatama Gandhi in Delhi. And this one appeared in the Time Magazine on Monday, Aug. 25, 1947 just after Nehru made his famous "Tryst With Destiny" speech in Delhi.

Now it's so simple to discover these age-old news stories - Google has made it possible to search across these rare and historica news archives through a new service called Google News Archives launched today.

The service lets you search across historical newspapers and magazines from 1754 to present. There are more than 120 million stories in the archives search index ["the" between 1754 to 2006]

Sources range from free news articles on ad-supported sites such as Time Warner Inc.'s Time.com and The Guardian or snippets of articles available for a fee or via subscription, from newspapers like The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post.

I am now digging for immediate media reactions when Martin Luther King made his famous speech "I have a dream". If you are interested in history, this is one service that you should definitely bookmark.

How to Download Contacts from Facebook There are still some options to take Friends data outside the walls of Facebook wall. Facebook offers the Takeout option allowing you to download all Facebook data locally to the disk (include...

You can use shortcut keys to view and save Web pages, search the web, open new webpages, work with bookmarks, or find text on the current webpage. Some of the most common keyboard shortcuts in Mozilla Firefox are Ctrl+N (to open a new Firefox window), Ctrl+T (to open a new tab), Ctrl+F4 (to close the current tab) and Ctrl+S to save the current webpage. Mozilla Firefox supports many more powerful keyboard shortcuts. For instance, by pressing a simple key combination, you can manually delete autocomplete entries from the Firefox location bar or Web forms. I am sharing a list of my favorite Mozilla Firefox Keyboard Shortcuts that make web browsing with Firefox even more fun . And you also save your precious time as navigating through several layers of Firefox Toolbar menus is no longer necessary. 1. Web Search Ctrl+K moves the cursor to the Search Bar. You can then type in the terms you wish to fin...
