Windows XP Users will be eligible for a free upgrade to Windows Vista if they purchase a Vista-enabled PC starting October till the time Vista formally hits the store shelves.

According to Smarthouse, Microsoft has teamed up with PC vendors to offer free Vista Upgrade coupons to PC buyers worldwide to encourage them to buy a Vista-capable PC as early as possible. With the coupon offer to kick off in October, prospective buyers who have planned to purchase a Vista-enabled PC in the first quarter of 2007 when the new OS is launched, will be encouraged to take up a Vista-capable PC in advance.

I think its great that I find this out from the WWW after I had just bought a new custom built machine that my dealer has already done the bait N Switch on the components. The machine still don't have a headphone that works on the front.
My point is This program has been in effect before I bought my machine and were do I get my coupon from. They have not offered me anything.

Thomas..

And now downgrade to XP again? Vista is not a good option. When is MS going to learn to start selling a non-beta version of their Windows?
