How to Claim a Frappr Map on Technorati

Thanks to those 74 faces who joined me on Frappr Map - the service has turned out be more interesting than I had previously thought.

It's given me a better insight about the geographic location of site visitors, their interests and blog links. A lot of them have also left comments and pictures on the map.

If you enjoy this site, please spare a minute and add your name to our Frappr Map.

Technically, A Frappr Map is just like another website with an RSS feed - when new people join or add pictures, you will automatically be notified via RSS.

You can also claim your Frappr Map on Technorati just like you claim a blog but the approach is a little different. Here's how I did it inspired by Lexidiem:

Step 1: Open Technorati Blogs and enter the complete URL of the Frappr Map (e.g. frappr.com/digitalinspiration). Click Begin Claim.

Step 2: Technorati will present a Javscript snippet to embed in the template. Skip this step since Frappr doesn't support the embed or javscript HTML tags.

Step 3 Technorati will now provide a HTML link code. Copy that entire code to the clipboard.

Step 4 Open the Frappr Map -> Choose Settings and click on Edit Layout. You'll see an HTML Embed Box in the Custom Layout Sidebar - Drag-n-drop that box to the Header section at the bottom of the page. (see screenshot)

Step 5 Now click the Edit button on the HTML embed box - a pop up window will ask you for the HTML code. Copy the full HTML code generated in Step 3 and paste it in the Text Box that says "Put your HTML here!". Click Save.

Step 6: Go back to the Technorati claiim page and click Claim Blog Now.

Congrats, you blogs is now successfully claimed at Technorati. You can add tags, description and pictures to make it more visible in the Technorati Rankings. Once the claim process is over, delete that link from the Frappr HTML box or completely remove the box by pressing the cross in the top right corner.
