At their Redmond Campus, Microsoft has developed a 3,500-square-foot concept office called Center for Information Work that gives visitors an idea of how future workplaces would look like. Even the TabletPC prototype was demonstrated to the CIW visitors before it was released to the general market..
The picture below from CIW shows how Microsoft sees the future workplace. What you see is StraTech, a monitor so large it partly wraps around the person viewing it. Bill Gates may already be looking to get one for his office replacing his dual Dell Monitors.
While touring the CIW, you will also come across DigiDesk, a touch-sensitive work space that demonstrates advanced visualization and modeling of information, smarter integration of metadata, and more sophisticated pattern recognition.
