Who will replace DVDs ? Blu-ray Disc or HD-DVD
The drive to replace DVD technology has come down to two major competing formats - Blu-ray or HD-DVD -and the winner is most likely to be decided by the $57 billion dollar sex industry that releases about 11,000 titles on DVD each year.
Large outfits tend to support the high-capacity Blu-ray Disc by Sony, while small outfits generally favor the less-expensive HD-DVD, which is backed by the DVD Forum and companies including Toshiba, NEC, Intel, and Microsoft.
Previously, superior Sony Betamax lost the format war to VHS because the adult video industry chose VHS. There are over 800 million rentals of adult videotapes and DVDs in video stores across the US.
While high-definition DVD titles trickle into stores, the Blu-ray discs delayed by a month as the Samsung Blu-ray players aren't ready yet.
