The developers of Performancing Firefox Blog Editor are building a web analytics package for bloggers, they claim to be something different, something better [than Google Measure Map ?]. Read my initial observations.
Nick Wilson recently wrote that Performancing.com will soon release the first public beta of Performancing Metrics - a web analytics package designed for bloggers. Darren adds that Metrics is "Very Good" and can partially track AdSense performance.
The Metrics Alpha testing site alpha.performancing.com requires a password but these javscript files (stats.js, wp.js, cookies.js, basicstats.js, drupal.js) on metrics.performancing.com server gives an early insight into the blog stats service.
Here are some of my observations on Performancing Metrics:
1. Metrics will be available as seperate tracking code for different platforms like Wordpress and Drupal.
2. Metrics Adsense Tracking mechanism is similar to the existing Adsense Click Tracking scripts. When the name of IFRAME is google_ads_frame, attach a mouseover/mouseout event.
3. Metrics will track basic statistics like Referrer, visitor platform, Screen Resolution, etc.
4. Metrics may be able to show blog statistics grouped by Post Titles, Comments, Categories, Author which are very specific to blogs.
5. Metrics does track visitors from Apple Safari - The current Adsense scripts have a problem with Apple users.
The above observation is based on the metric javascript code. I am sure there would be much more to Metrics than like Search Engine traffic analysis, Location Map, Visitor activity log, etc.
Will have to will until next week to give Metrics a try.
